The tip of Hatteras Island, Hatteras Village, is also home to a small private campground that offers both campsites and small ice-cream colored cottages that guests can rent seasonally. These grounds hold a lot of important history, for if it was not for the actions of this group, these old-growth redwoods may not exist today. No fires are allowed, and you have to bring in treated water and take out all trash at the buggy and primitive Hickory Hill, Yankee Paradise and Brickhill Bluff campsites.
